STAA is Mourning the Passing of Friend and Colleague Bruce Moses
Bruce Moses, an employee at the Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) since 1995, passed away Monday morning, August 15, 2011, at his father’s home in Indiana after a courageous struggle with cancer. He died with his wife Miosotis, his four sons, James & Jonathan, age 11; Jacob age 10; and Brandon age 5; his own Father and brother at his side. He was a talented artist, illustrator, excellent GIS mapping expert, surveyor, field archaeologist, and avid researcher of historical battles and local events. He was a loving father and a dedicated archaeologist of exceptional skill.
Bruce was an active, long time member and Chair (2008) of the Southern Texas Archaeological Association. His efforts will continue to pay dividends in years to come as he loved to share his extensive knowledge of our area’s rich cultural heritage and his technical expertise, especially with children at events such as the annual Archeology Day at Mission San Jose in San Antonito. Bruce's long time friends within the archaeological community will all mourn his loss and miss his sweet disposition and his ability to make friends with everyone he ever met. Plans are being made locally to organize events that recognize Bruce and his accomplishments, and at the same time assist his family.
