2012 Annual Meeting
A special thanks to everyone who was able to attend our 2012 Annual Meeting at the John Igo Library! We had a fantastic turnout. For those able to attend, we hope you were able to pick up your copy of Stone Artifacts of Texas Indians and have it signed by authors E. Sue Turner, Thomas Hester, Richard McReynolds, and Harry Shafer. If you weren't able to make it, but are interested in picking up your copy of the revised 3rd edition, see the section below to order your copy from Amazon.com.
The meeting kicked off with Board elections. Congratulations to the 2012 Executive Committee. Assuming the mantle of Chair is Matthew Harwood. Taking his place as Vice-Chair is Christa Watson. Returning as Secretary and Treasurer are Candy Smith and Lee Gummelt (respectively).
After the elections, members were treated to an update on Fools Rock Shelter. Artifacts and data collected from the STAA sponsored excavations are in the analysis phase. The analysis requires one more radiocarbon date. If you would like to donate funds to help accomplish this please click the PayPal link below.
It was with great honor that we were able to host a presentation by Harry Shafer entitled The Toyah Phenomenom in Central Texas that explored such topics as trade and hunting methods of the Toyah in Texas.
